LifeShare of Oklahoma Records Highest Number of Organ Donors in June 2021 - More than 65 Organs Transplanted
LifeShare of Oklahoma, the organ procurement organization for the state, announced it has recorded 27 organ donors in June 2021, the highest monthly donor record in its history. From the 27 organ donors, 65 organs were recovered and transplanted, saving 61 lives.
“This record-setting month is possible only because of the selflessness of our donors and their families,” said Jeffrey Orlowski, President and CEO of LifeShare. “We are humbled by their decision to donate and honored to be stewards of the selfless gifts they provide.”
Approximately 117,000 people waiting on a lifesaving transplant, and more than 600 of them are Oklahomans. Each organ donor can save up to eight lives and heal as many as 75 people through tissue donation.
LifeShare encourages all Oklahomans to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor and share your decision with your family. You can sign up to give the gift of life at LifeShareRegistry.org.
