LIFESHARE STAFF APPOINTED TO NATIONAL COMMITTEE

Jan Foutch, the Vice President of Quality Systems for LifeShare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma, was recently appointed to serve on the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations Standards and Accreditation Committee. Foutch will serve as both a site surveyor and member of the committee.
The AOPO Standards and Accreditation Committee is responsible for writing new standards and monitoring existing standards to maintain their relevance to the organ procurement field The committee also oversees the accreditation process and conducts the individual OPO surveys.
Members of the committee go onsite to OPOs to conduct accreditation surveys, complete a survey report and present the report to the full committee for review. This process is on a three year cycle for OPOs.
Committee members are selected via a nomination process, their CEO recommendation and after being interviewed by a Committee member. Additionally, there are requirements for serving in an OPO management role for more than 4 years, familiarity with the AOPO Standards and the accreditation process.

Foutch has worked in the area of quality for approximately 15 years. The last 10 years of her career have been focused in the field of organ procurement. In addition to working for organ procurement organizations, Foutch served three years as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University teaching a class about ethics and economics of organ donation.
Foutch is an active member of many associations and committees including: American Society for Quality, Association of Organ Procurement Organizations, AOPO Quality Improvement Council, ASQ Membership Committee in 2006 and AOPO QI Council Steering Committee for the terms of 2005-2007 and 2012-2014.
Foutch earned a Bachelor of Music in performance from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Music in performance from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. She is also professionally certified as a Certified Quality Manager (CQMgr) and a Certified Internal Auditor.
