LifeShare Names New Manager of Tissue Services
Joel Smith, of Clinton, Miss., was recently named Manager of Tissue Services of LifeShare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma.
LifeShare is the organ procurement organization in Oklahoma responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for transplant purposes.
“Joel comes to us with an array of experience in the tissue procurement field,” said Jeff Orlowski, President and Chief Executive Officer of LifeShare. “We are glad to have him as a part of our leadership team and we know he will help us to continue the growth of our tissue recovery efforts.”
Smith has approximately ten years of experience in the tissue procurement field. Prior to coming to LifeShare, he was employed by Donor Network West in California as the Supervisor of Tissue Recovery Services.
Smith worked as a Tissue Recovery Coordinator with Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency and he served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.
In his new position, Smith will manage the tissue recovery efforts of the Tissue Services Department at LifeShare. He is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the standards and regulations that govern tissue donation.
Smith received a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss.
He is also a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist.
