LIFESHARE HAS RECORD BREAKING MONTH - 64 LIVES SAVED BY OKLAHOMANS IN JULY
LifeShare recently announced the organization broke its previous record and coordinated the donation of 26 donors during the month of July, breaking its old record of 22 donors. This coordination of donations resulted in 64 lives saved.
In 2016, LifeShare recovered 180 organ donors, saving 443 lives, which was the organization’s third year to surpass the record set the year before. This year, LifeShare has already saved 262 lives.
“We are proud of the work LifeShare has done to help save lives,” explained Jeffrey Orlowski, President and Chief Executive Officer for LifeShare. “We are thankful for the focus and commitment from our staff and the efforts of the Oklahoma medical community.”
This month, LifeShare also recovered 51 dermis donors, which breaks another organizational record. Through tissue donation, LifeShare was able to enhance more than 4,500 lives during the month of July.
“Most importantly, we are thankful for the incredible support and generosity of Oklahomans, without whom our lifesaving work would not be possible,” explains Orlowski. “We encourage all Oklahomans to continue registering to be organ, eye and tissue donors so more lives can be saved.”
The need for transplant is growing, and there are approximately 800 Oklahomans currently waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
LifeShare encourages all Oklahomans to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor and to share your decision with your family. You can give the gift of life by registering to be an organ, eye and tissue donor at www.LifeShareRegistry.org.
