LifeShare has Record Breaking Month Following Record Setting Year
During January, LifeShare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma set a new all-time record for the number of organ donors recovered during a one month period.
Last month LifeShare recovered 19 organ donors surpassing the organization’s all-time high record of 16 donors in both November of 2012 and November of 2014.
LifeShare is the organ procurement organization in the state of Oklahoma responsible for organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation.
This record breaking month comes on the heels of a record breaking year for LifeShare. In 2014, 141 donors were recovered with 445 organs recovered. This passes the organization’s all-time high record from 2007 of 109 donors and also passes an all-time record for the organization of 323 organs in 2012.
“I am incredibly proud of the work LifeShare did in 2014 and that we have started this year on track for another great year,” explains Jeffrey Orlowski, President and Chief Executive Officer of LifeShare. “Following our record breaking year, our primary goal will be to at least maintain our success in 2015 in the hope of saving as many lives as possible.”
Orlowski contributes the record breaking year and month to the focus and commitment from the entire LifeShare team including staff, leadership and volunteers and the efforts of the Oklahoma medical community.
“We have also had incredible support and generosity from the citizens of Oklahoma,” explains Orlowski. “We encourage Oklahomans to continue registering to be organ, eye and tissue donors so we can continue to save lives.”
In 2014, LifeShare was able to help save 369 lives through donation. There are still approximately 900 Oklahomans on the waiting list for a lifesaving transplant.
