LifeShare Foundation Provides Support to Families of Organ and Tissue Donors
The LifeShare Foundation recently announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind grief support program for organ and tissue donor families in the state of Oklahoma.
The LifeShare Foundation is the philanthropic organization which supports the activities and initiatives of the LifeShare Network to save more lives through donation. This new grief support program, funded by Chickasaw Foundation, will partner with The Alliance of Mental Health Providers of Oklahoma (The Alliance) to offer counseling sessions to grieving families. |
Prior to the launch of this program, LifeShare offered grief materials and resources to families to walk them through their loss.
The grief of losing a loved one can be overwhelming to many families, and this partnership with The Alliance will allow LifeShare to refer donor families to receive help beyond what LifeShare is able to offer. Once an individual or donor family is enrolled in the program, they will receive counseling sessions from a licensed counselor.
Along with grief support, The Alliance will facilitate help with education, finances, employment, food, housing, transportation assistance, case management, medications and more to support the families.
“The grief process is difficult for many donor families who often struggle with the unexpected, traumatic loss of a loved one,” said LifeShare Network Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Orlowski. “The Foundation is looking forward to being able to support the families of heroic donors with individualized support that only a licensed professional counselor can provide. We are confident families will benefit from this program.”
The Grief Support Program has potential to reach more than 100 families this year by offering dedicated, emotional support to families’ heroes who made life happen for others. For more information, please contact our Aftercare Department by calling (405) 840-5551 or email [email protected].
