LifeShare Network Saves 645 Lives in Record-Breaking 2024
Eleventh Consecutive Year of Milestones
Oklahoma City, OK (January 8, 2025) - LifeShare Network proudly announces its eleventh consecutive year of reaching new milestones in the number of organ and tissue donors recovered, the number of organs transplanted, and the total number of lives saved.
In 2024, LifeShare facilitated the gift of 746 lifesaving transplants, a 14.9% increase from 2023, providing 645 individuals with the gift of life. Tissue donations, including musculoskeletal, skin, eye and birth tissue were recovered from 1,027 donors - an 8.2% increase from 949 in 2023 - bettering numerous lives through life-enhancing procedures.
LifeShare’s mission to save lives and inspire hope would not have been possible without the compassionate and selfless decisions of 273 donor heroes and their families in 2024.
“This year has been one of immense growth for LifeShare and for donation in Oklahoma,” said Jeff Orlowski, President and CEO at LifeShare Network. “Thanks foremost to the many Oklahomans who gave the gift of life as well as to the collaboration and dedication of our team, hospital partners, transplant centers, research and media partners, volunteers and all those who support the LifeShare Foundation, we were able to expand opportunities for donation and create a transformative impact for our community, for those awaiting a lifesaving gift, and for our profession.”
Among LifeShare’s achievements in 2024 were:
• Creating new organ transport technology in collaboration with local innovator MaxQ;
• Expanding to over 200 full-time staff members and receiving the Oklahoma Top Workplaces honor for the sixth consecutive year;
• Hosting Transplant Tomorrow: Pioneering Pathways in Organ Donation and Advancements, a first-of-its-kind summit for transplant professionals;
• Introducing an automated referral program to enhance efficiency in communicating with hospital partners; and
• Receiving the Achievement of Excellence Milestone Award from the Oklahoma Quality Foundation
“As we welcome the new year, I encourage all Oklahomans to register their decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor,” said Orlowski. “An act of compassion today can make a profound impact for the lives of others in the years to come.”
The need for organ, eye and tissue donors has grown in Oklahoma in recent months; More than 800 Oklahomans need a lifesaving transplant, and more than 115,000 patients are waiting across the country. One donor hero can save up to 8 lives through organ donation and enhance up to 75 more through tissue donation.
