LIFESHARE EXECUTIVE SELECTED TO SERVE ON NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

Janice Whaley, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of LifeShare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma, was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Secretary of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Advisory Council on Transplantation (ACOT).
This position provides direct input to the Secretary of HHS on matters pertaining to donation and transplantation of organs in the United States. In addition, ACOT assists in setting the agenda for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) and other related agencies. Whaley will serve on this council for four years.
Whaley has served on several national boards and committees related to organ and tissue donation and recovery. She is a member of the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT), having served as president in 2003. Whaley is also a member of the North American Association of Transplant Coordinators (NATCO), the American Society of Transplantation (AST), the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and the American Association of Tissue Banking (AATB). She currently serves as the Representative for OPTN/UNOS Region 4 Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) Committee and she is a committee member on the OPTN/UNOS Kidney Allocation System (KAS) Subcommittee.
Whaley is a graduate from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She received a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and in 2013 completed a post graduate certificate from Harvard Business School, Executive Management Program.
