Oklahoma among leaders in registering organ, eye and tissue donors

Oklahoma Donate Life Month celebrates record number of registered donors
As Governor Brad Henry proclaimed the month of April Oklahoma Donate Life Month, more Oklahomans had registered to be organ, eye and tissue donors than ever before. The LifeShare Donor Registry contains the names of more than 1.3 million Oklahomans, over one-third of our state’s total population.  > MORE

Oklahoma donor family to smell the roses
Steve and Kelly Howard, and their 17-year-old son, Kade, of Ringling, have been selected to represent Oklahoma organ and tissue donor families in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. Their youngest son, Dalton Steve, became a donor in 2004, at the age of 11, after a four-wheeler accident. The Howards will join other organ and tissue donor families, transplant recipients, living donors and their loved ones across the nation in celebrating a “magical” New Year as the Donate Life Rose Parade Float makes its third appearance in the annual parade.  > MORE

More Than One-Third of State’s Population Registered to be Organ, Eye and Tissue Donors
The LifeShare Donor Registry, in conjunction with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety has confirmed that of the 3.5 million residents of Oklahoma, more than 1.2 million are registered organ, eye and tissue donors.  > MORE

Donor Recognition Ceremonies
LifeShare of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Lions Eye Bank honor organ, eye and tissue donors and their families in ceremonies in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. This year, ceremonies will be on August 2, 2-4 p.m., in Tulsa at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center. And on August 3, 2-4 p.m., in downtown Oklahoma City at the Hilton Skirvin Hotel.
